Date: January 28th, 2014
Name: Lake Baccarac Mexico
Hottest Baits: Lizards, Flukes Worms and Crankbaits
Hottest Colors: Pearl, Watermelon, Black / Blue
Comments: Paralleling what they did last year by using Alabama rigs, targeting schools of shad, Jason and his partners produced pictures and stories of many large bass, some boats catching 20 fish a day while others caught 80 fish a day. The 8, 9 and 10 pound bass we’re plentiful for this group. Watermelon lizards produced great numbers running the banks. Baccarac is poised to have a fantastic spring and we hope you come see us! Lots of good numbers at the Lake currently , waiting on the big fish to show up again.

Lake Baccarac Bass

Happy New Year! If one of your goals in 2014 is to catch a Largemouth Bass over 10 pounds…Read this from my good client Earl Rideau:

“I’ve fished most of the popular lakes in Mexico, including El Salto, none even come close to the quality and fight of the fish in Baccarac. Even a three day trip will give you the “opportunity” to catch a 10 lbs.+ bass. On my last trip I fished 5 days and caught 24 fish over 10 lbs! I had one day where 5 bass went 65 lbs (not incl. my big fish of the trip which was 17.25 lbs.), another where I had 62 lbs. and a third where I had 55 lbs. To “catch” almost every big fish you hook fish light saltwater tackle like the Shimano Calcutta 400 with a 6.5-7 ft. med. stiff to stiff rod, 50-65lbs. braided line with a 25-30 lbs. fluorocarbon leader with BIG baits.” Good Luck!

Bass Fishing Proves Challenging as of Late on Lake Baccarac

Lake

Date: October 29th, 2013
Name: Lake Baccarac
Hottest Baits: Lizards and Worms / Ratl Traps – Chrome
Hottest Colors: Watermelon and White Flukes
Comments: Over the last ten days, it has been typical Lake Baccarac fishing. Some very good days; some very poor. Last week the Archbald group had mixed results, but did manage ten bass over 10 pounds and a 12.6 pounder part of the mix. Texas rigged lizards at Rancho Padre allowed forbetter production, with some boats catching 80 to 100 largemouth a day. The bigger fish were caught on watermelon colored Magnum flukes. Guide Manuel, fishing with a 3/8 oz. Scrounger tipped with a white 4 inch fluke, did very well. The ratl traps, chrome with a black back and chrome with a blue back was the best bait for the mid-sized 4 to 7 lb. bass. Dave McKinney group, who in the past have had incredible luck targeting big bass, struggled recently and experienced slow fishing. It seems like the last three days are a total 180 degrees from last week, with fewer bass being caught. The water has started falling as they are filling up the irrigation canals and the lake level is still roughly 80%. We have private charter planes flying to Baccarac on a weekly basis. These planes land ten minutes from the lodge….a great way to get to one of the best bass lakes in Mexico!

Name: Lake Baccarac Lodge
Hottest Baits: Swim Shads, Super Flukes, worms
Hottest Colors: Watermelon, Watermelon / RedDate Fished: May, 2013
Comments: 05/08/2013 David and I had a great time at the lodge this past week. Although the fishing was a little slow we both still set new personal bests bass catches. Jason 10.3 and David 8 pounds. The guides, cooks, drivers, and other staff provided excellent service and accommodations. It’s amazing how many big fish are here. We caught 35- 40 bass but most were over 5 lbs. Many fish had their way with our tackle as was predicted. We lost largemouth estimated in the 10-12 lb class. I’ll find a way to come back again. This place was awesome!!!!
05/09/2013 Things are looking up as the May action is creeping into the picture. As always this time of year, through June and July, we have an explosion of big bass. The last couple days of reports from the lodge indicate the best fishing on the lake is coming in short order. Adam Bulleigh, fishing with Sixto, had a big bass of 12.9 pounds. John Lard reporting 19 largemouth over six pounds yesterday afternoon. Shad Goldston caught a couple fish over 9 and one over 10. Manuel put his clients on a 13 pound bass and a dozen over 8 lbs. Juan and his client had seven largemouth bass over 7 and four over 9. If May is starting out like this, June will be fantastic on Lake Baccarac! We hope to see you down here.

Comments: 02/08/2013 Ever since Gil and his group arrived the bite has been extremely slow..Russ Johnson is picking up topwater bass every morning…Trent Loukas and Judd Hightower have landed several nice trophy bass. The bite has been very slow the last 2 days. Manuel Salazar predicting the better bite starts in March this year which will be exactly when the better bite started last year.
02/09/2013 An overview of the last few days of bass fishing on Baccarac: The Trent Loukas / Andrus Brothers trip is over and they flew back to Amarillo in their jet. Although the bite was very challenging, all members of the group ended up catching largemouth over 10 lbs. and Trent stated that he caught countless fish over 9 pounds. A couple of guys in the group broke their personal best, with Chris Scharbauer catching a 10.2 pound bass. Every day, their big fish pot required at least a 10 lber to be in the money. The Gil Wright group, currently at the lodge, is having the same challenging conditions, with Gil currently not catching anything worth noting but Bob Schreiwer fishing with Sixto catching a 10.8, 9.15 and a 9.0 for his three biggest largemouth bass so far. The best producing guide over the last ten days has been El Tigre. He has been dialed to the spots that are holding the best numbers and the best quality of fish, with some of his clients catching 50 and 60 bass in a session.
02/10/2013 After two very slow days the big bass along with numbers came back today with guide Alanzo fishing Wes Moffat caught a 11.0. 12.4, 11.5 all on topwater baits. Sixto fishing with Jerry Ballard and Bob Schriver caught a 10.6 on topwater. Manuel Salazar fishing with Gil Wright and Denis caught a total of 38 fish with a 9.8, 8.6 and 8.3 on topwater bass lures.

January, 2013 Bass Fishing Report from Lake Baccarac

Lake Baccarac Bass Fishing

Date: January 2nd, 2013
Name: Lake Baccarac in Mexico
Hottest Baits: Flukes, Super Flukes
Hottest Colors: Watermelon, Watermelon / Red Date Fished: Late 2012 / Early 2013
Comments: The big bass continued to bite at Baccarac with the exception of a couple of days. We had three Largemouth Bass over 9 pounds caught with watermelon flukes by Mr. Yokoi from Japan. Mr. Hiroyuki caught a beautiful 11 lb. on a wild-eyed swimming shad in electric blue color. Mr. Kazuakai caught an 11.5 and an 11.0 on a Texas rigged six inch electric blue worm. Scrounger jig heads tipped with flukes produced good numbers of 5 and 6 lb. bass. The small fish are still not biting, which has been the case all year long.
The water temps have dropped tremendously and we are looking at a little bit more rain, but thus far, some of the best fishing we have seen for the year. Mitch Everhart, in his tenth trip to the lake, first time fishing out of our Lake Baccarac Lodge, reports the best fishing experience he has ever had. Rated Manuel Salazar as the best guide he has ever fished with in all of Mexico and caught four bass over 8 pounds, one over 9, one over 12 and had nothing but positive things to say about our operation.
Excellent trophy bass bite with the current Japanese Group at the Lodge….water temps and air temps very cold but the bite on the big fish remain very strong ….you have got to fish slow right now.

We have one seat on a flight from Fort Worth to Lake Baccarac for 4 & 1/2 days bass fishing on February 12th. Contact us for details.

Hottest Baits: Flukes, Super Flukes
Hottest Colors: Watermelon, Watermelon / Red Date Fished: December, 2012
Comments: Fishing results on Baccarac varied from the 16th to the 21st with a pretty good cold snap moving through Sinaloa and slowing the bass bite way down. Dennis Puff and his friend Alex arrived via commercial flight into Los Mochis and caught low numbers but did manage several 8 pound largemouth and one bass over 10 pounds on their last day. Gordon Soto had a an excellent day with 65 fish caught up to 9 pounds using heavy jigs. Narlin, while guiding, managed 4 fish over 10 pounds using senkos in deeper water. He’s a bass fishing machine!
